With only a single turret still standing, its hard to imagine what this 13th century castle may have looked like in its full glory, however the standing section could give us a pretty good idea! 

marked on the map is an approximation of where the full castle may have stood as according to the conservation management plan the original castle encompassed both the stables and gatehouse.

Additionally the castle may have also spanned the area covered by the arrow, in the form of an abbey due to the human remains found there by archaeologists, suggesting some kind of burial ground.

other clues come in the form of scars on the castle face where a roof and some windows once stood, as seen in the image to the right!
